We are delighted to follow David's marvelous two-day extravaganza last month by launching a DAVID AMRAM series on the first Monday of every month at 8:30. It will explore in his highly personable, generous and informal style the astonishing variety of David's interests and accomplishments--renowned composer of symphonic classical music, jazz compositions, improvisation, spoken word, scat, he sits at the piano, schmoozes about music, about the greats, the beats, the obscure, the legendary; plays the French horn, pulls out all kinds of instruments (flutes, drums, horns) gathered from his many circumnavigations of the globe, pulls in guests drawn from just about every artistic walk of life. His special guest on Monday January 3 will be the actor JOHN VENTIMIGLIA, known for his work in the Sopranos, but also a huge fan of Jack Kerouac, with whom David was closely associated in his Greenwich Village days and with whom he conducted the first-ever Jazz/Poetry readings ever given in NYC in 1957.
JOHN VENTIMIGLIA has starred in many theatrical productions in New York City as well as in films, and created the crtically acclaimed role of JACK KEROUACK in JOYCE JOHNSON's play "Door Wide Open" in New York with Amram providing the music. He and Amram often perform together at festivals and concerts.
