The Nathan Eklund Group is a distinct jazz combo that released their first album, "The View From Afar", in 2006. Their
second album, "The Crooked Line", is set to be released on January 23, 2007 through the Jazz Excursion Records label. The
repertoire of the group is based on Eklund's original music and his unique arrangemants of other's material. Although there is
form and structure to every composition, the music is intended to give a great deal of interpretive responsibility and freedom to
each member of the group. Through this approach, each of Eklund's works become a group arrangement, utilizing the creative
energy and talents of the entire group.

Lawrence Joseph is the author of five books of poems, most recently Into It and Codes, Precepts, Biases, and Taboos: Poems 1973-1993, published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux in 2005. He is also the author of Lawyerland, a book of prose, published by FSG in 1997, which has been optioned for a film by John Malkovich. He is Professor of Law at St. John's University School of Law.
ANDREY GRITSMAN, a native of Moscow, emigrated to the United States in 1981. Gritsman is a physician who is also a poet and essayist. His poems, essays, and short stories in English have appeared or are forthcoming in over 60 literary journals. His work has also been anthologized in Modern Poetry in Translation (UK), Crossing Centuries (New Generation in Russian Poetry), The Breath of Parted Lips: Voices from the Robert Frost Place, and in Stranger at Home: American Poetry with an Accent.
He runs the Intercultural Poetry Series here at Cornelia Street and also edits an international bilingual online poetry magazine, www.interpoezia.net.

The Claudia Quintet
"For" is the new CD by the Claudia Quintet, the genre-defying band led by Grammy-nominated composer John
Hollenbeck. "For" is a positive message. "For" is driving rhythms, beautiful melodies, and passionate virtuosity. "For"
is for all music lovers. "For" is also their fourth CD.
Since Hollenbeck first presented the band in an internet cafe on Avenue A in Manhattan in 1997, the Claudia Quintet has
amazed audiences from Alabama to the Amazon. Their unique sound has inspired dancing hippie girls at a New Mexico noise
festival, the avant-garde cognoscenti in the concert halls of Vienna and Sao Paolo, and a generation of young musicians
worldwide. In the course of the thousands of miles they have traveled together and hundreds of concerts they've played, the
Claudia Quintet has evolved and grown, developing a dynamic live sound based on trust and spontaneity. They bring this
powerful energy into the studio, where they record the old-fashioned way, live, playing as a band. The legions of people who
have been won over by the music of the Claudia Quintet live and on CD attest to the fact that genre-defying new music need

Building on the popular and critical success of their previous CD's, "The Claudia Quintet" (CRI, 2001), "I, Claudia"
(Cuneiform, 2004), and "Semi-Formal" (Cuneiform, 2005), "For" continues Hollenbeck's startling development as a
composer. John Hollenbeck is a leader of a new generation of musicians who have brought together many disparate threads
of contemporary music to create a new sound. They embrace the textural freedom of electronic sounds and improvisation,
the structural ambition of contemporary classical music, and most importantly, the joy of bodacious grooves and
unapologetically gorgeous melodies. In the Claudia Quintet, Hollenbeck has assembled a group of the foremost innovators in
this new sound to create a powerhouse band. They are: Drew Gress - bass (Tim Berne, Uri Caine, Ravi Coltrane),

The Charles Evans/Erik Dutko Duo explores 20th century harmony utilizing an interesting instrumentation;
baritone saxophone and guitar. Their longtime musical partnership has developed into a highly sensitive and intimate musical
collaboration. Taking their cue from the explorations of the David Liebman/Richie Beirach duo, Evans and Dutko have
developed an approach that combines a post-ECM aesthetic with an economy of note choice. They have reached a maturity
that enables them to combine pure sound and melody with complex harmonic shading in both their compositions and
improvisations. Evans’s baritone joins the sensitivity and range of John Surman with the chromaticism and fire of Liebman,
while Dutko’s guitar colors the melodicist with a pianists’ touch; the linear feel of Keith Jarrett and the sensitivity and restraint of
Marc Copland.

Brian Woestehoff Quartet
Organic Chemistry sounds just like the title suggests: Brian Woestehoff and three of Philadelphia's finest jazz musicians came
together to create a weaving of engaging melodies and musical interactions. Every idea seems to feed from previous ideas—
musical conversations are carried on seamlessly. The compositions, most by Brian himself, serve as ideal vehicles for these
improvisational journeys. Brian is featured on tenor and soprano saxophone, and the stalwart Philly rhythm section consists of
Erik Dutko on electric guitar, Brian Howell on bass, and Dan Monaghan on drums.
