Ann Klein is a singer/songwriter/guitarist/producer. As a
composer/songwriter, she has: toured in Europe consistently for 10 years;
written music for three documentaries for French television; written music
for THE ENERGY FACTORY (an organization committed to tackling the growing
problem of child obesity in the United States); written music for MetroMusic
– a hip and happenin’ library in NYC. As a guitarist, Ann has had the honor
of playing with Kate Pierson of the B-52s, Joan Osborne, PM Dawn, Sara Lee,
Toshi Reagon, Keri Noble, Mary Lee Kortes, Sara Wendt, Valerie Ghent and Ani
DiFranco, among others. She has also produced several artists with her
partner, Tim Hatfield, of Cowboy Technical Services. Ann was also the
recipient of a grant to attend the McDowell Colony in the summer of 2000.
However, Ann is most proud of her ability to wah wah her way out of any
solo, any time.

progressive and blues influences find their way into her intelligent,

Rik Ekstrom:
Rik Ekstrom is a songwriter, guit-for-hire, and builder of things. His music
is steeped in northern European and early American traditions, but never
strays far from the Grand Epoch of American r&r. As an accomplished
finger-style and slide guitar player, Rik interprets music with crafty
hands. Simple ideas are rendered with an eye to the details. Rik's
songwriting delivers narratives based in plain, unromantic realism and
pointed irony. His characters stumble between folly and quiet heroism, and
sometimes into homicidal revelation. Rik's playing is said to combine
elements of the Piedmont blues ( Rev. Gary Davis via Jorma Kaukonen) and
Celtic/American traditional music (Martin Simpson, Kelly Joe Phelps) with a
bit of southern Californian folk/pop (Peter Case). But mostly Rik Ekstrom is
a builder of things.

Eloise Klein Healy is the author of five books of poetry: Building Some Changes (Beyond Baroque Foundation), A Packet Beating Like a Heart (Books Of A Feather Press), Ordinary Wisdom (Paradise Press), and Artemis In Echo Park (Firebrand Books) which was nominated for the Lambda Book Award and released as a spoken word recording by New Alliance Records. Women’s Studies Chronicles, a chapbook, was published by The Inevitable Press in the Laguna Poets Series.
Douglas Kearney is a poet, performer and teacher currently living in the L.A. area. His poetry has appeared in Callaloo, nocturnes, Jubilat, several anthologies and a number of audio recordings. He has been a featured performer at venues across the country, including the New York Public Theater, the Orpheum in Minneapolis and the World Stage in Los Angeles. His first full-length collection of poetry, Fear, some was published by Red Hen Press in October 2006.
Sarah Goodyear has written for the Village Voice, Time Out New York, Ms. magazine, and many other publications. View from a Burning Bridge is her first novel. She lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her family.
Camille Dungy has earned fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, The Corporation of Yaddo, the Ragdale Foundation, Cave Canem, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. She has been a Tennessee William’s Scholar at the Sewanee Writers’ Workshop, Artist-in-Residence at Rocky Mountain National Park and was a finalist for the 2002 A Room of Her Own Foundation Fellowship in Poetry. A graduate of Stanford University and the MFA program at UNC-Greensboro, Dungy is now Assistant Professor of English at San Francisco State University in San Francisco, CA. Her most recent book of poems is entitled What to Eat, What to Drink, What to Leave for Poison, published by Red Hen Press.
Kurt Brown founded of the Aspen Writers' Conference, and Writers' Conferences & Centers (a national association of directors).His poems have appeared in many literary periodicals, and he is the editor of several anthologies including Blues for Bill, for the late William Matthews, from University of Akron Press and his newest (with Harold Schechter), Conversation Pieces: Poems that Talk to Other Poems from Alfred A. Knopf, Everyman’s Library Pocket Poets Series. He is the author of six chapbooks and five full-length collections of poetry, including Return of the Prodigals, More Things in Heaven and Earth, Fables from the Ark, and two new collections, Future Ship and From Here, due out in 2007 and 2008 respectively from Red Hen Press. A collection of the poems of Flemish poet Herman de Coninck entitled The Plural of Happiness, which he and his wife translated, was released in the Field Translation Series in 2006.

With one step into the world of Julie Hardy, it is clear that she is not a typical jazz singer. The Wish, her forthcoming release on World Culture Music, shows us a highly trained composer, improviser and re-inventor of jazz standards, backed by a spectacular collection of some of New York's best young jazz talent. Through a diverse program of wordless originals and re-workings of timeless standards, Hardy has developed a sound that is truly unique and honest. In 2005, Hardy released her debut recording A Moment’s Glance (Fresh Sound New Talent) to a full house at the Jazz Standard in New York City. That year she was also selected to perform at the Diet Coke Women in Jazz Festival at Jazz at Lincoln Center. This past year Hardy was acknowledged for her talent as a composer by receiving the 2006 ASCAP Young Jazz Composers Award for her composition “No Turning Back”.
