Christopher Castellani is the author of three novels published by Algonquin Books: All This Talk of Love (2013), The Saint of Lost Things (2005) and A Kiss from Maddalena (2003), winner of the Massachusetts Book Award. He is a contributor to numerous books on writing, including Naming the World: And Other Exercises for the Fiction Writer (Random House, 2008) and Mentors, Muses and Monsters: 30 Writers on the People Who Changed Their Lives (Free Press, 2009.) He is the artistic director of Grub Street literary magazine and teaches at Warren Wilson College’s MFA Program and the Bread Loaf Writers Conference.

Deborah’s FIG TREE tour in September 2013 took her to Paris, France where she was reunited with France's jazz piano luminary, Alain Jean-Marie - playing at Sunside, Cafe Universel, Cave du Riv 38 and Bab-ilo. While in Paris, Latz recorded her fourth album in trio with Alain Jean-Marie on piano and Gilles Naturel on double bass. Look for the release in 2014.

Barbara Aliprantis is nationally known for performing/producing storytelling events. She is the recipient of an NSN Oracle Service Award and co-founder of the second Tuesday storytelling series at Cornelia Street Café with Dr. Kallas.

Cris Beam is the author of three books and a memoir. Her latest, To The End of June: The Intimate Life of American Foster Care (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2013) was a New York Times Notable Book. She teaches creative writing at Columbia and NYU.

Francis Flaherty, author of The Elements of Story: A Field Guide to Nonfiction Writing (HarperCollins) was a New York Times columnist and author for 19 years. He now teaches journalism at NYU and Columbia University, and edits books. He is writing a book on language with the working title, English: A Fan’s Notes.

Robin Hirsch is the author of Last Dance at the Hotel Kempinksi (a memoir), MOSAIC: Fragments of a Jewish Life (a performance cycle) and FEG: Stupid Poems for Intelligent Children. He is the owner of the Cornelia Street Cafe which he founded with two other artists in 1977 and which the City of New York proclaimed “a culinary as well as a cultural landmark” in 1987.

Tim O'Mara, a New York City schoolteacher for the past 26 years, is the author of the Raymond Donne mystery series including Sacrifice Fly and Crooked Numbers. His next novel, Dead Red, is slated for an early 2015 pub date.

Thomas Pryor is published in The New York Times, A Prairie Home Companion and other periodicals. His blog: "Yorkville: Stoops to Nuts," is listed in The New York Times. Thomas appeared on PBS's TV series: "Baseball: A New York Love Story," NBC TV’s “New York Nonstop,” and “This American Life.” His photography book, "River to River ~ New York Scenes From a Bicycle," was published in 2012 (YBK).

Joshua Rebell is a playwright and screenwriter, whose work has been extensively produced in Los Angeles, as well as in New York, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Oregon. He is also a spoken word curator here at the cafe, and very happy to celebrate the ongoing success of great storytelling series like this one!

Angelo Verga, is a widely published poet and a Cornelia Street Café partner. Two of his six book-length collections are A Hurricane Is (Jane Street Press) and Praise for What Remains (Three Rooms Press).

He is a former member of Paul Motian & The Electric Bebop Band (Garden of Eden, ECM – 2006) and a current member of Tomasz Stanko’s Dark Eyes Quintet (Dark Eyes, ECM – 2009). In November 2013 he recorded for ECM in the trio format with Thomas Morgan (bass) and Norwegian drummer Jon Christensen.

His latest recording, and the last in a trilogy, December Song with Bill Frisell, Lee Konitz, Craig Taborn & Thomas Morgan is getting wide praise in reviews in Downbeat, Jan. (4.5 stars), and and was just chosen as editors pick in Jazz TImes. The Scandinavian Magazine Jazz Special awarded it Jazz Record of the Year 2013, as they did in 2009 for Balledeering, the first in this series.
