Mitchell Productions Inc presents: The Spring Soiree image

The Spring Soiree is a special event benefit that brings together the unique talents of three seasoned New York performers in a festive night of entertainment. Theatre maker Tina Mitchell, violinist Helen Yee and Jazz pianist Matthew Fries present a night of music and cabaret to raise funds for the US premiere of Miss Julia at La MaMa in June.

Tina Mitchell will perform a number of comedic scenes that present a variety of eclectic and hilarious characters who find themselves in strange predicaments. Joining her onstage will be Carla Kissane, Selene Beretta, William Apps and Terence MacSweeny among others.

Helen Yee performs original compositions by live-looping the violin with electronic effects, building evocative layers of sound in real time. Each performance relies on the unique qualities of the moment as no pre-recorded samples are used.

Matthew Fries performs solo piano works including selections from his recent album “Parallel States,” a collection of original compositions created in a collaborative project with his sister, a visual artist.

Hosted by Julia Campanelli, the Spring Soiree benefit promises to be a fun night of festivities.
